Cloud Light, Cloud Bright...



First cloud I see tonight.
I wish I may, I wish I might
Understand this iridescent sight!


A NASA satellite has captured this photo of the first occurrence this summer of mysterious shiny polar clouds that form 50 miles above Earth’s surface.

This image shows one of the first ground sightings of noctilucent clouds in the 2007 season. (Credit: Veres Viktor of Budapest, Hungary; taken on June 15, 2007.)

That picture can't have been taken by a satellite - this phenomenon only occurs around 50 miles above the earths surface. The satellite imagery referred to in the article is actually here.
